Here are five easy changes that you can make to your daily routine to kick your fat loss into gear and help improve your overall health.
1. Keep track – Log what you eat for one week and you will lose weight. That means everything that goes in your mouth. There are studies showing that people who keep food diaries wind up eating about 12-15 percent less food than those who don’t.
Don’t let the weekends trap you: No matter how hard you try most people can consume a few 100 extra per weekend day. This is primarily of alcohol and fat. Cut out the crap.

2. Avoid wasted calories – You think that you are doing a good thing by avoiding wasted calories in sugar filled drinks but there are many ways to get caught. Yes, skip the sugar laden sodas, Grande Caffe mocha, and even alcohol but watch out for ketchup, salad dressings, sports drinks, fruits juices, flavored yogurt and many other things that can sabotage your progress.
Again this is where logging & monitoring your intake of juice, soda, coffee drinks and even wine. This will help you avoid consuming unwanted & unneeded extra calories each day.
Also, some studies have shown that alcohol may actually suppress your ability to metabolize fat, thus making it even harder for you to burn those calories.
3. Get moving – That’s right get your ass off of the couch and out of the chair. It can’t be said simpler than that. You need to get moving. The average person spends two-thirds of their day either sitting at the office of on the couch watching television. This is not only helping you pile on the pounds but it is also killing you. You have got to get moving.
If you work in an office get up and walk around every thirty minutes. This will your body in motion and also help you relax a little bit. Don’t stop and get into hallway conversations that will possibly stress you out. Try to keep things positive.
A good tip is to use a stand-up desk. Standing while working at your desk is much better for you, your metabolism & your health.
Also if you are watching your favorite TV show or game don’t run to the fridge get up and work during the commercials. When a commercial break comes on get up and do some jumping jacks, push-ups, squats, and planks. Pick an exercise and perform it during the commercial break. You won’t believe how much work that you can get in during a football or basketball game.
4. Sleep – Scientists have found that along with being bad for your overall health poor sleep habits disrupt your fat loss. Get at least 7-8 hours of sleep each night. Turn off the computers and put down the cell phones at least an hour before you go to bed to help your brain wind down and relax. Keep your room dark and cool. Studies have shown that a cooler environment helps with a restful sleep.
5. Don’t get discouraged – Don’t let a lack of success drag you down. Keep a good attitude about your weight loss & fat loss journey. This is not a quick or crash diet. This is a new lifestyle and you can win your fat loss battle if you keep a good attitude, stay focused on your health goals and DON’T GIVE UP!
